Take Notice Of Timeshare Complaints To Avoid Timeshare Fraud And Timeshare Scams
Most people have heard about a lot of timeshare complaints ever since this particularly aggressive sales machine first opened it's jaws. During the early days of the timeshare industry, very few people even knew of its existence. Any large scale advertising campaigns would have needed to educate the consumer as to the nature of timeshare, before even attempting to get them to buy it. It was found to be much cheaper and easier to create a slick direct marketing campaign which would entice potential purchasers to actually come to the timeshare resorts, where they could be subjected to pressure selling.
In those early days, pressure selling was extremely effective. People had not become as hardened as they are today to endless marketing messages. Even now, there are many people who make purchasing choices they later regret after being subjected to the tactics of pressure salesmen. This is after the Internet has made it possible for timeshare complaints to be logged and shared with the whole world, and after the same medium even gives individual consumers a voice through the many review sites.
Of course, aggressive selling is not of itself illegal. However, there is often a fine line between this and genuine timeshare scams where someone is told things verbally which are then not included in the written contract. This is the most usual type of timeshare scam, although you will also find the reverse, where a drawback or restriction in the written papers is simply omitted from the verbal dialogue. It is essential to read the contract, or have it read by a lawyer, before you sign anything.
The most certain sign of all that something is wrong, is when you are told that a certain offer is only available on that one given day, and that if you don't sign on the spot the offer will either be gone or the price will rise dramatically. If you are told this, it is almost certain that you are looking at timeshare fraud. Why else would it be so important not to allow someone to take a contract away with them, get it analyzed, and than make an informed choice?
The best place to research timeshare complaints is on the Internet. This is a resource which many unfortunate victims of a timeshare scam will wish had been available to them when they were buying a timeshare. Now that it is here, it makes sense to use it. Carry out a detailed search of any resort you would like to buy timeshare in, so that you find as many possible providers as you can. Then, check out each provider thoroughly in turn. Don't confine yourself to just the travel advisory sites, although these are of paramount importance. Do a direct search on company names, and the names of the company directors, to see if you uncover any timeshare complaints.
